From the publisher:
The Olympic Stadium has a very special meaning for athletes and sports enthusiasts. In 1928, on the occasion of the Olympic Games, the stadium was realized thanks to generous donations from people from all over the country. Since then, it has always fulfilled a special role for the city of Amsterdam and the Netherlands. Not only were many sporting events held, but also national commemorations and spectacle games took place.
In the eighties the stadium fell into disrepair: the city council had advanced plans to demolish this special stadium. Fortunately, the National Rescue Funds Foundation managed to mobilize all of the Netherlands to raise money, so that the stadium can enter a new episode in its history.
The Olympic Stadium: the construction, the glory, the decline, the reconstruction. Never before has the rich history of the Olympic Stadium been portrayed so extensively and vividly.
