Efrem Ebbli was born in Bergamo, Italy. He achieved a degree in electronics but he devoted his life to football from childhood. As a goalkeeper he played in Italy, for Atalanta Youth, Romanese, Pavia, Pergocrema, Vogherese, Derthona, Alzano and Trevigliese in the Italian Second and Third Division.

In 1994 he moved to England, playing for Sittingbourne, Dover Athletic, Herne Bay, Deal Town, Lordswood at various levels of the English non-league.

This is the fascinating, rollercoaster story of the uncertain life of a footballer - the highest highs and, of course, the lowest lows.
