The author:

JOHN BRODIE Born in Retford, Nottinghamshire in 1951, John has been a lifetime fan of Sheffield Wednesday since a neighbour's son took him to a game as a young boy. More than 50 years on, the club is still his passion. Happily married for 31 years and with two grown up children, John still works as an engineer surveyor for a major insurance company. John is a keen and very knowledgeable club statistician. He is renowned for being able to turn any topic of conversation to football, and more precisely Sheffield Wednesday, within a few sentences. Five years ago, together with co-author and long standing friend, Jason Dickinson, they put 14 years of research into The Wednesday Boys, a comprehensive who's who of the club, but felt that there was still more to ground to cover, hence this new offering. JASON DICKINSON Born in Sheffield in 1969, Jason was first taken to Hillsborough at the age of 10 by his father, Ken - the 1979 Boxing Day massacre game against Sheffield United being an early memory. This started an affinity with the club that resulted in frequent visits to Hillsborough until the purchase of his first season ticket for the Kop back in the summer of 1986. He has only missed only a handful of competitive games, home and away, in the last 15 years. His interest with the history of Sheffield Wednesday was sparked through a rapidly expanding collection of matchday programmes. As his knowledge increased Jason's was co-opted onto the club's programme team in 1994, and he continues to write for the club's official journal to this day. Jason has previously written 5 books on Sheffield Wednesday. Married to wife, Michelle, Jason works as an accountant in the Sheffield suburb of Chapeltown and lives in nearby High Green, with Cassie the Staffie and one-legged rescue hedgehog, Sonic.
