Kitted For Culture is a limited-edition, extra-large, community-oriented football and fashion publication, edited and designed by RCA master’s student Lukman Ipese. The project seeks to provide an answer to the question: ‘How do football shirts, as artefacts and fashion objects, express identity, heritage, and storytelling in grassroots football culture?’
Sporting a glossy transparent plastic cover and spiral bound design, this impressive publication showcases twenty-five colourful football t-shirts, designed and modelled by young players from the London Borough of Hackney. Each t-shirt design was digitally rendered by Lukman before being professionally manufactured, with the project culminating in a well-executed editorial shoot and community fashion show, presented alongside documentation of the entire creative process.
