From the publisher:

Founded in 1880 Preston North End are one of the oldest football clubs in the world. With a rich history shaped by their immortal Invincibles and the fleet-footed brilliance of Sir Tom Finney, the very mention of their name tugs the heart strings of football romantics across the world.

But what does it mean to support PNE – to be a North Ender?

Turning the camera from the pitch to the stands, this unique collection explores that very question as 116 fans from different generations recount their stories of supporting their beloved North End.

From the 1930s to the present, fans recall the days of rattles and rosettes, ‘54 and ’64, Finney’s farewell, the Black Prince, Nobby’s heroes, and the goals of Elwiss, Fuller and Garner. Their memories are our memories; relegation, re-election, re-birth, promotion, the plastic pitch and play-offs galore.

Amongst the memories lay a variety of personal and entertaining stories: Nicking Moysie’s shorts, a phone call from Shankly, Maradona’s barber and a Pontins shirt, climbing Hartlepool’s floodlights, a lift from Sir Tom, days in the Crazy Corner, and a half-time marriage proposal. It’s all here!

With fans photographed and arranged into twelve chapters including Senior Whites, Away Days, Whites in Exile, and Prized Possessions, each interview resonates with the next to produce a unique history of our proud club.
