From the publisher:
After Final Whistle , his photo book about typical British grounds, master photographer Marco Magielse comes with a new masterpiece: Plein . The Breda resident portrayed thirty Belgian fields - spread over no fewer than 304 pages, with more than 250 full-page photos - and the Belgian journalist Raoul De Groote wrote stories about them. No club histories, but large and small stories about known and unknown heroes. It includes a roundup of the Nazis, oriental carpets and the Scala of Milan, as well as Eden Hazard, Wilfried Van Moer and the 'George Best of Belgium', but also Mauriske, André and Fred.
The photographer chose the thirty Belgian clubs in this book based on the charm that their stadium and surroundings radiate. Some compete in the first division, others in lower divisions, a few no longer exist. They are presented with photos that zoom in on the atmosphere and show the details that catch your eye. 'CR7' in the mud, a steel factory in the background, concrete advertising panels, grim faces of supporters.
Plein is a book that makes you long for the smell of grass and muscle balm.
