From the publisher:

As soon as football is back in the New Year, a decision by the video referee causes discussions in the second game of FC St.Gallen. Even the chief referee considered the intervention of video referee Alain Bieri, which led to the penalty for Lugano, to be inappropriate, as we  reported here .

Bieri did not see the reactions to his decision first hand. On the one hand, because he met him from the VAR area in Volketswil. On the other hand, because fans are still not allowed in the stadiums anyway. It was completely different in the memorable 3: 3 against YB last season. There was also a VAR scene back then. At that time the stadium was full and Bieri was on the field as referee. He stands by his decisions in that game, as he explains in a big interview in the MUSTARD issue that appears on Thursday. In the conversation he also says that one can actually discuss the meaning of such rules.

But the past year was not only special because of controversial VAR decisions and absent fans. But also because FC St.Gallen suddenly played really well. Eastern Switzerland has not seen such a season for a long time. Maybe also because a continuity has found its way into St.Gallen that is extraordinary. Sports management, for example, is committed for five years. Alain Sutter and Peter Zeidler want to build something up in Eastern Switzerland. And they can take their time for it. If Zeidler fulfills the contract, he would be the longest-serving coach in the club's history.

Jeff Saibene, among others, still trumps him in this regard. We talked to him about his trainer station in Kaiserslautern, which was still up to date at the time of the interview. While the magazine was in print, Saibene was released. Even if he never really seems to have arrived in the Palatinate, there are still parallels to his time at FC St.Gallen. We also talked to Kwadwo Duah, for whom Grün-Weiss is his sixth professional club, about arriving. He expects nothing less than the breakthrough from himself.
