The Famous CFC is a photo documentary by photographer and lifelong Chelsea supporter John Ingledew on Chelsea fans from 1980 – 2004.
The limited edition A5 zine contains 29 beautifully shot black and white archival photographs across 28 pages.
Ingledew has been on Chelsea’s roller coaster ride for half a century. He has lived, breathed and photographed every step of the way, his unique pictures providing a personal insight into the club’s rich history.
This collection of photographs run from the 1980s days of despair when the club were just two places, and two points, from relegation to the old Third Division to the period of unparalleled success, when Blues supporters were spoiled by a never ending conveyor belt of the big name, big money, stars that come with it.
Ingledew’s pictures reflect life on the terraces during that era, capturing the fashion and style of 80s skinheads and casuals, and the then rudimentary facilities at Stamford Bridge.
“Players and managers come and go, and so do owners too, the fans are the only constant. Something that all fans know is that it’s the supporters that give every club its own unique identity, you are a fan for life and without doubt fans are the real owners of every club.” John Ingledew
