Windsor Park: A History of the Home of Linfield FC & Northern Ireland

Windsor Park, Belfast, has been the home of Linfield FC since 1905, since when it has hosted thousands of football games at club and international level, as well as a variety of other sports and social gatherings.

In this fully illustrated account author Joe Cassells, a life-long Linfield and Northern Ireland supporter, describes the previous home grounds of Linfield following their formation in 1886 and recounts how the stadium was acquired and developed, the many modifications that enlarged the capacity to around 60,000 in football’s golden era after World War Two, its decline in the 1970s and 1980s, and the many wrangles that took place before the present stadium was finally completed in 2016.
